Observability Metrics Mapping

Expose pgxpool.Stat() thread-safe counters to a Prometheus collector on a ticker interval (time.Duration):

  • AcquireCount / AcquireDuration: Spikes indicate pool starvation; application layer threads are blocking waiting for available sockets.
  • IdleConns vs TotalConns: A persistent wide delta signals over-provisioned pools, wasting database shared buffer allocations.
  • CanceledQueries: Identifies misaligned client-side context.WithTimeout durations vs database-level statement_timeout limits.
