A poem in rememberance of my mother, my father’s service as a firefighter, and my relationship as a son to them.

Firey, Bloody Cross: A Poem

I can understand you father and the fires around you

A fire burns in me

A fire of a rebel

It’s a rebellious fire saying the lines have been drawn

My mother was from the rebel line

Lines of blood marked their land

Bloodlines were tucked away but

The blood stays in you to travel

And nourish your body

A nourished body is a vessel for the soul

A rebellious soul bathed in blood is a sacrifice of perspective

One more forgotten lost or erasure is the glory of the mystery of the cross

A cross bloodied during Holy Week

Do you understand me?
