Thank you for your interest in writing for Books, Seen Through ADHD Eyes!

What to submit?

• Anything written from an ADHD perspective: book reviews written with ADHD in mind, as well as tips, resources, personal stories, essays — any type of story related to reading with ADHD.
• Both drafts and published stories can be submitted, including stories imported from your own blog.
• Only submit your original work, for which you hold the copyright.
• Do not submit AI-generated texts.

Community guidelines

This Medium publication is a part of a larger community, and adheres to the same community guidelines. Stories must conform to these views:

• ADHD is real. All coping ways are valid. With or without meds, blessing or curse — all views and feelings are valid. There is no “curing ADHD” — it is not a disease.
• Reading is diverse. Listening/ feeling (as in Braille)/ any sort of consuming texts = reading. Discussing various reading forms is welcome; judging them is not.
• No calls for/ support of banning/ boycotting/ blacklisting books or authors. We’re here to share our diverse experiences of reading, not to silence others or dictate what to think and read.

How to write an ADHD-perspective book review?

The ADHD aspect need not necessarily be the main focus of the review. Rather, it should include an angle that relates directly to ADHD.

Some examples:

• ADHD representation in the book
• Characters that present ADHD traits, without explicit mention
• Relevant themes, along with their ADHD interpretation (otherness, relationships, achievements…)
• Author has ADHD, and this is reflected in the book
• Technical issues that may affect the ADHD experience while reading, like chapters’ length, number of characters to remember, confusing names…
• The writing style, and reading experience in general —does the story easily sweep the reader in? Is it a thoughtful, lyrical type of book? Could it be read in one sitting?
