Day 25

3 squares and 20 minutes later I’ve got the miter saw on the bench and perfectly straight

Unpacked it, squared her all up, made a few cuts and ran inside before the frostbite comes. Unfortunate that I didn’t have the motivation to do all of this in the summer, but the cold never bothered me anyway. Well, considering I woke up to snow, the cold does affect the speed at which I’m able to get this party started. Hopefully it’s not too painfully cold tomorrow and I can build the workbench since all I should need to do is measure, cut and screw. I’ve already measured the space it’s going in and modeled it in Fusion 360 to know where to cut. I have a pocket hole jig and 8 right angle brackets so the process should go pretty quick. Unfortunately “pretty quick” will still put me finishing after the sun is long gone and the temperature will be only slightly over freezing. Good news of course is that finishing the workbench tomorrow would allow me all day off Saturday to put together as much of the shapeoko as possible. After I wrote that I remembered that I wanted to put some insulation on the wall and pressure wash the decaying rat off the concrete in the special room. If everything goes right, I should have the cnc at least functioning and running the test sequence by the end of Sunday. It feels good to type that. It will feel amazing if that’s actually the reality
