Catcher Freddy Fermin snapped several slumps with his decisive two-run, seventh-inning home run Saturday night at Petco Park.

— Fermin was 0-for-30 over the last 12 games before the homer. The longest hitless streak of his career had stretched out over 34 plate appearances and dropped his batting average to .125.

— His first home run of 2026 also snapped a streak of 149 plate appearances without a home run since last Sept. 16 — a span covering 56 games.

— Fernando Tatis Jr. was 2-for-4 Saturday with a RBI. Tatis has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games dating back to May 24 with seven of those games being multi-hit games, including three 3-hit games. He has hit .408 during the run, going 20-for-49 with 2 doubles, a home run, 3 RBIs, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and 4 runs for a .431/.510/.941 slash line.

— Sung-Mun Song had his second, two-hit game in the Major Leagues Saturday, going 2-for-2 with a walk and 2 runs scored with a stolen base.

— RHP Bradgley Rodriguez served up his first home run of his career Saturday night. It came on the 149th hitter he faced. Rodriguez (1.82 earned run average) was credited with his first win of the season. He had worked 36 1/3 innings before giving up the first home run of his career.

— RHP Mason Miller picked up his 18th save Saturday. But it was only his second over the last 17 Padres games. He also lowered his ERA to 1.01 with a scoreless ninth.

— RHP Griffin Canning gave up a run on 3 hits and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts in five innings Saturday in his seventh start as a Padre, lowering his ERA to 6.34.

June 7, 1972 — Clay Kirby allows eight hits over 13 shutout innings but Pittsburgh defeats the Padres 1–0 in 18 innings at San Diego Stadium. First baseman Nate Colbert sets a franchise record with 23 putouts and second baseman Derrel Thomas has 11 assists.

DH Nate Mondou (.260) had 2 doubles in 4 at-bats with 4 RBIs, a walk and a run. 1B Nick Solak (.337) was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run. 3B Marcos Castanon (.309) was 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run. RHP Sean Boyle (5–4, 6.39) gave up 2 hits and 3 walks with 7 strikeouts over 3 1/3 scoreless innings to get the win.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (24–32) — Missions 4, WICHITA 2: SS Carson Tucker (.295) was 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and 2 runs. C Brendan Durfee (.250) hit a solo home run in 3 at-bats with a walk. RHP Andrew Moore (2.29) struck out the side in a perfect inning to earn his first save.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (24–32) — Lake County 7, TIN CAPS 3: 2B Rosman Verdugo (.229) had a double and a solo home run in 4 at-bats. 3B Zach Evans (.224) had a solo home run in 3 ABs. Starting RHP Abraham Parra (0–5, 6.08) gave up 2 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks with 2 strikeouts in 3 innings to take the loss.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (32–24) — FRESNO 8, Storm 6: C Yoiber Ocopio (.262) was 2-for-4 with a 2-run home run, a stolen base and 2 runs. 3B Bradley Frye (.274) had a double in 2 at-bats with 2 RBIs, 2 walks and 2 runs. Starting RHP Tyler Schmitt (4.98) gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.

ARIZONA COMPLEX LEAGUE PADRES (12–13) — Did not play Saturday.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE — Red Sox at PADRES GOLD (2–2), postponed, rain. ASTROS 4, Padres Brown (1–4) 3: Starting LHP Rickelby Ramos gave up a run on 2 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
