A Retreat That Rewired More Than Minds: My Reflections as a Facilitator

There are some moments in our life that don’t just change others, they change ourselves. The Himalayan Five Elements Retreat in Rishikesh was one such moment for me.

Sixteen incredible souls joined this journey, each carrying stories, emotions, and silent prayers for healing. And as the days unfolded, what began as guided sessions slowly turned into a shared transformation.

When I saw all sixteen participants leaving with smiles, rebooted, revitalised, and rejuvenated, my heart whispered, this is what soul satisfaction feels like.

Here are my few takeaways as a “First-Time Retreat Facilitator in India”

For years, I’ve worked from the comfort of my home, guiding clients 1:1 through deep subconscious transformation. But stepping into a live group retreat was different. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, and in that push, I rediscovered a new part of myself.

1. Stepping Out of Stagnation:

I realised I’d been craving real-world human connection, eye contact, shared laughter, collective silence. The retreat reminded me that healing amplifies when experienced in community.

2. Bringing My Business Mind:

As someone from a business background, I also shared my views and ideas. Every interaction became a reflection of my values, structure, and genuine care. It was also about creating a safe, professional, and intentional space for growth.

3. Preparing to Serve Deeply:

Each day before the retreat began, I asked myself, What value can I bring today that helps someone heal, transform, evolve? That intention guided every talk, meditation, and reflection circle.

4. Sharing the Pillars of Transformation:

We explored emotional balance, inner child healing, body wisdom, and self-image building, the four anchors that hold true for anyone on a healing journey. These were the themes that participants resonated with most deeply.

5. Science Meets Spirituality:

I shared simple, evidence-backed tools, and paired them with soulful practices like chants that soothe the nervous system. It reminded me how beautifully the two worlds can blend when the heart leads the process.

6. Learning from the Participants:

Every person came in as a seeker, but they also became teachers, sharing their wisdom, vulnerability, and breakthroughs. Their reflections became my lessons too.

7. Bonding Beyond Words:

Somewhere between the guided meditations, laughter-filled lunches, and late-night conversations, we became a small circle of trust.

Reflections Beyond the Retreat

As I look back on those five soul-stirring days in Rishikesh, my heart feels full. What unfolded in that sacred space wasn’t just a retreat, it was a reminder of why I chose this path in the first place.

To witness sixteen radiant beings arrive as strangers and leave as one tribe, lighter, calmer, and more connected to themselves, was beyond fulfilling. It reminded me that when people come together with open hearts, healing flows naturally.

As a first-time facilitator, I felt both humbled and expanded. Every smile, every tear, every shared silence taught me something about the depth of human resilience and love.

To the wonderful Curators, Sumita Chakraborty, PhD and Nitin Ananta from Ananta Alaya, thank you for giving me the opportunity to co-create and facilitate this beautiful experience. Your trust, warmth, and vision created the perfect container for transformation.

And to every participant, thank you for saying yes to yourselves, for showing up fully, and for allowing me to witness your journeys. You reminded me that healing is never a one-way path; it’s a circle, one that connects us all through grace, courage, and compassion.
