Drums of War

Poetry

In the gray prairies of the mind, she wandered, painting everything with the colors of the world.

Amid the shrieking of the swords, I found that quiet of which the ancient sages spoke. In her voice, a lullaby for a war-worn soul.

Across those tattered fields, she wandered, the earth unwithering in her steps.

I saw moonlight pour itself over her olive skin clinging to her as it descended, yearning to return… Suspended, then, was the whistling of the arrows.

Over those blighted hills, she wandered, thinning the thunder of the drums.

I wondered, then, if I had her in my arms and all of time passed me by, would I have missed a thing?
