CSMT- Panvel Elevated fast corridor project will go through Thane creek

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)- Panvel Elevated fast corridor project, which has been in the waiting list for last eight years, is speeding up and a part of the project will run through Thane creek.

In the CSMT to Panvel, Advanced Elevated fast corridor project, a four-kilometre distance will be constructed over the Thane creek. The bullet train will also run through the Thane Creek. Two big projects will be going through this creek. Mumbai Railway Development Corporation (MRCC) informed that this will be an advanced road between Mankhurd to Vashi. The challenging part of the entire project is the construction work on the Thane creek

The advanced route project will be developed by MRVC. This project was approved in the railway budget as it was included in MUTP-3A. MRVC has been focusing on the construction of this project on the Thane creek between Mankhurd to Vashi but approval of the project from the cabinet is still remaining. An advanced fast-track road will be built up to four kilometres by taking a special care that mangroves are not being damaged to a large extent.

In total, eight stations will be in parallel with three elevated stations. But before this project, the bullet train route from Bandra-Kurla Complex which will go towards Koparkhairane, Ghansoli and Shilphata will go through 30 meters deep in the Thane creek. There are chances that birdlife will be affected in the Thane creek. Even now the CSMT-Panvel elevated route will also go through this creek which will even add pressure on the birdlife of the creek.

• The journey of 75 minutes will be completed in 48 minutes.
• CSMT, Wadala, Kurla, Tilaknagar, Chembur, Mankhurd, Nerul, Belapur will be elevated roads while Vashi Kharghar and Panvel will run parallel to the existing lines. Apart from this, the project is also going through Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The elevated fast corridor project which is seen as an important project for the comfort of office going commoners from Panvel- CSMT and vice-versa, but on the same time it is necessary to make sure that under the developmental process, no harm will be caused to the available natural resources
