Apple Is Dead. It’s Just Too Rich to Notice It’s Dying.

I used to set alarms for Apple keynotes.

Now I forget they happened.

That shift did not happen overnight. But it happened.

The signs are everywhere if you stop making excuses for them.

Vision Pro. $3,500. Dead on arrival. The most expensive paperweight in Silicon Valley history.

Apple Intelligence. Announced with fanfare. Shipped in pieces. Still not finished. ChatGPT does more on a free account.

Dynamic Island. A software trick dressed up as a hardware revolution. You stopped noticing it three weeks after you bought the phone.

The MacBook is thinner now. Nobody asked for that. Nobody needed that. They shipped it anyway and called it courage.

This is not a bad product cycle. This is a company that forgot how to want things.

OpenAI is moving so fast it breaks the news cycle every other week. Google has AI inside everything. Meta, the company everyone loves to hate, is shipping open-source models that developers are losing their minds over.

And Apple? Apple is making the bezels slightly smaller.

The most talented engineers in consumer tech. More cash than most governments. Twenty years of brand loyalty so deep it borders on religion.

And this is what they are doing with it.

The dying part is not the revenue. The revenue is fine. The dying part is the hunger.

Jobs did not build Apple by asking what customers wanted. He built it by showing them things they did not know existed. The iPhone. AirPods. The original MacBook Air. Products that made you feel like you were holding the future.

When was the last time Apple made you feel that?

Take your time. I will wait.

The company is not broke. It is not collapsing. It is doing something quieter and more dangerous than either of those things.

It is coasting.

Coasting on the iPhone you already own. The ecosystem you are already trapped in. The brand you already trust. None of that requires them to take a single risk. None of that requires them to feel hungry.

And a company that is not hungry does not build the future.

It just charges you more for the past.

The iPhone is still the best phone you can buy. The Mac is still the gold standard for a lot of workflows. Nobody is disputing that.

But best-in-class is not the same as visionary.

Apple used to be both. Now it is only one. And the one that is dying is the one that matters.

You have been defending this company for twenty years. You set the alarms. You watched the keynotes. You upgraded on day one.

They owe you more than a thinner laptop and a half-finished AI feature.

Start expecting it.

Follow for more takes on tech, mobile, and the things the industry pretends not to notice.
