MAN 1 Yogyakarta Strengthens Partnership with Parents to Prepare Globally Minded Muslim Leaders

Yogyakarta, Indonesia — MAN 1 Yogyakarta strengthened its collaboration with parents and guardians through the New Students’ Parent and Guardian Meeting held together with the School Committee over two days, Wednesday and Thursday (June 10–11, 2026). The event marked the beginning of a partnership between families and the school in guiding students to become Muslim generations with strong character, outstanding achievements, and global competitiveness.

The meeting was attended by hundreds of parents and guardians from various student admission pathways. On the first day, participants came from the JPTT, CBT, Excellence, and Tahfidz admission tracks. The second day was divided into two sessions for the Religious Program and the International Class. To ensure wider participation, parents living outside the region were also able to join the event online via Zoom Meeting.

H. Edi Triyanto, S.Ag., S.Pd., M.Pd., Principal of MAN 1 Yogyakarta, emphasized that education cannot reach its full potential without strong family support. According to him, the meeting served as a strategic platform to align the vision of the school and parents in supporting students’ growth and development.

“This is an important opportunity for us to build communication and strengthen our partnership in guiding your children. When the educational foundation within the family is strong, education at school will become much easier,” Edi said.

He added that MAN 1 Yogyakarta is committed to developing students who excel academically while also possessing noble character, independence, and the ability to adapt to the changing world.

“We are committed to guiding and educating your children so they grow into individuals with good morals, independence, and the competencies required in today’s world. Our goal is to prepare globally minded Muslim generations with international competencies who are ready to become future leaders,” he explained.

During the meeting, Wakhid Hasyim, S.Pd.I., M.A., Vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs, and Apriya Dzikri R., S.Hum., Vice Principal for Public Relations, presented a comprehensive profile of MAN 1 Yogyakarta. The presentation covered the school’s history, vision and mission, priority programs, learning system, student achievements, distinguished alumni, as well as student organizations and extracurricular activities that support talent development.

Meanwhile, Hazwan Iskandar Jaya, S.P., M.Ed., CMT., ASEAN, Chairperson of the School Committee, encouraged all parents and guardians to build a strong partnership with the school. He emphasized that educational success depends not only on the programs designed by the school but also on the active support and involvement of families.

The Religious Program was introduced by Latifa Rahmawati, M.Pd., Head of the Religious Program Unit. She explained the boarding school guidance system, which includes activities from morning until night, as well as various student-led organizational programs.

“All activities in the Religious Program are designed to develop students’ independence, leadership, and sense of responsibility. Interestingly, many of these activities are organized directly by student committees from the MAN PK program,” she explained.

In the International Class session, Endang Sri Utami, M.Pd., Head of the International Class Unit, introduced the curriculum system that integrates international and national standards to equip students with global competencies while preserving their national identity.

English subjects will follow the Cambridge Curriculum, while Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry will use the Oxford Curriculum. Other subjects will continue to follow the National Curriculum.

Parents showed great enthusiasm during the discussion sessions, actively sharing questions, suggestions, and expectations as part of their commitment to supporting their children’s education.

The event concluded with the signing of a joint agreement by representatives of the parents and the School Committee. The document reflects their shared commitment to supporting all school programs and policies in creating a strong and sustainable educational ecosystem.

More than just a ceremonial event marking the beginning of the academic year, the meeting reaffirmed that educational success is built on a solid partnership between families and schools. When parents and educators move in the same direction, the vision of nurturing Muslim generations who are morally upright, intellectually capable, and globally competitive becomes not merely an aspiration but an achievable reality.
