About Redbrick — #3. UGC & Metaverse

Redbrick prays for creators’ success as a huge supporter and reliable sponsor for the creators

UGC & Metaverse

Have you ever thought about the linkage among YouTube, TikTok and Roblox? They all are services that have grown based on UGCs (User Generated Contents).

The biggest advantage of UGC is the unlimited formats and contents which enable the creation of numerous contents. New contents are awaiting billions of users every day.

What about the metaverse area? We can confidently say that Redbrick is the most advanced UGC-based metaverse platform. The reason is obvious: Setting aside the fact that it is not a roadmap or white paper but a substantial metaverse, there are over 30,000 metaverse UGC created by Redbrick’s studios, which is the pride of Redbrick and enables Redbrick to keep nurturing UGC creators as well as building a C2E ecosystem for their success.

Challengers

Redbrick has been holding a creation competition regularly as of 2023, since 2020. Regardless of age, nationality, expert or non-expert, anyone can feel infinite potential for growth and passion of creators, freely accessing to UGCs created in Redbrick’s studios.

Season 1 : Creator Challenge

Block-based and text-based coding which incorporates Redbrick’s OOBS (Object Oriented Block Coding) enables them to create 2D and 3D contents and make an exhibit.

After Redbrick team members choose candidates for prize-winning contents by playing all the contents sent in, users select final prize-winning contents through votes, which the linkage between creators and users has been built on.

Over 300 excellent UGCs have been chosen through a total of 5 creator challenges, and over 190,000 users have played UGCs using Redbrick platform.

Season 2 : Metaverse Challenge

Redbrick has been thinking a lot about the way to deliver not only prize money but also unique values of Redbrick, one of which is that the Redbrick provided users with an experience of displaying user-created games were displayed at G-Star, a big game fair in which indie creators can hardly participate.

Creators had a chance to meet players in person at G-Star as well as to get 5 million KRW for grand prize and 3 million and 1 million respectively for the first and the second runner-up at Redbrick Challengers which was held in 2022 and showed the largest scale.

Besides, at this event, a blueprint for creator economy was presented, which was represented by a C2E structure where UGC play counts generate profits.

In addition, Redbrick’s mentors in individual areas including coding, UI/UX and modelling provided consulting for the contents on the finals. Such mentoring activities which gave a sense of achievement based on improvement in the quality of work and an experience of producing contents in a professional manner can explain how much Redbrick cares each creator.

Season 3 : Indie Challenge

In 2023, Redbrick is planning both quantitative and qualitative growth for the purpose of creating C2E ecosystem. Recruiting and supporting indie developers is also a part of such plan.

Despite their unique ideas, many indie developers have difficulties when it comes to investment costs. To support indie developers in a more active way, Redbrick, with the Korea Indie Game Society, held Indie Challengers which provides them with development aid and chances to launch their work on Redbrick platform.

Redbrick will continue nurturing creators through programs for supporting global indie developers and making efforts to build creator economy which enables the success of creators.

Play Redbrick

People create UGCs for various reasons. However, wouldn’t it be nice if UGCs you created by yourself make profits, become popular among users and further become the talk of the town?

Redbrick has prepared another event for creators after Challengers. It is ‘Play Redbrick’ where users play contents created by Redbrick studios and play rewards are given as a result of accomplishment of mission.

You must be wondering how an event where play rewards are given can be for the good of creators. The reason is that this play event’s missions are based not only on Redbrick’s original contents but also on UGCs generated by creators.

Since one of the things that indie developers have been longed for is the solution for lack of channels used for the advertisement of contents as well as an insufficient marketing budget, Redbrick advertises ‘Play Redbrick’ on various partnership channels including an open metaverse and Redbrick’s community.

The 1st Play Redbrick’s content was a game ‘JUMP’ which was chosen in the afore-mentioned 2022 Redbrick G-Star Challengers.

Though this game, developed by a teenage student, has a simple content which requires nothing but jumping until a player reaches its destination, it received an enthusiastic response with a record of nearly 20,000 plays in a week and an average play time of 14 minutes. Traffic generated during the period was given to creators as advertising revenue based on Redbrick’s advertisement system. The distribution of revenue will be made fair and just, which is a difference from Web2 platform.

Profits which may be given to creators and players will be introduced in more detail along with token economy which will be explained later.

We hope you clearly understand that Redbrick is the most advanced metaverse through interviews with creators and find a new opportunity in Redbrick metaverse.
