Transforming HEDIS Reporting and Value-Based Care Analytics: Driving Accuracy, Compliance, and Improved Patient Outcomes

Over the past eight years working in Medicare and Medicaid analytics, I’ve encountered a consistent challenge: delivering timely, accurate insights to providers while maintaining compliance with NCQA and HIPAA standards. This spans HEDIS benchmarking, reporting delays, and provider engagement all critical for improving member care and performance outcomes.

Addressing these challenges requires a combination of technical expertise, process automation, and strategic oversight. Some of the key initiatives I’ve led include:

• Improving data accuracy by 30% through automated validation and audit frameworks across claims, RX, lab, EMR, vision, and provider specialty data
• Reducing reporting cycles from 5 days to 1 day by automating multi-domain trend analyses and HEDIS comparison dashboards in Power BI
• Building internal measures using the most current data to educate providers on AWV, FMC, OWM, and pharmacy measures in real-time, addressing delays caused by HEDIS engine outputs
• Bridging internal teams and external vendors to streamline MCA and HRA survey collection and processing
• Ensuring compliance with NCQA and HIPAA standards while providing actionable insights to improve provider performance and member outcomes

One of the biggest challenges in Value-Based Care is communicating actionable insights to providers despite HEDIS reporting delays. Certified HEDIS outputs often reflect data from the previous month, which makes timely provider education difficult for certain measures. By developing internal measures against the most current data, we enable providers to act on real-time insights, improving engagement and patient care.

Beyond compliance and provider outreach, I have transformed reporting through automation, enabling enterprise-scale analytics across multi-domain datasets.
