MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE 2026 REVIEW

I Loved this film. I Just saw it last night. It’s refreshing to actually see a Director who actually grew up in the 80’s and know the source material. To know what it means to those who also grew up in the 80’s.

As a child I was very fortunate to grow up in a time when He-Man was at the peak of its popularity. I had a huge collection of HE-MAN ACTION FIGURES… NOT TOYS! They’re probably still in Taree, maybe it’s time for another trip.

“The 2026 Masters of the Universe film follows Prince Adam, who was exiled to Earth as a child. After fifteen years of living an unfulfilling, mundane life as an HR representative, Adam discovers the magical Sword of Power. There were so many good things in this movie. Eternia was beautiful. The characters had an amazing aura and were very how you imagine most of them in a live action feel. Sure they play around with Race Swap in some characters but when it gets down to it, it actually works. Idris Elba as Man at Arms is actually a good choice. Jared Leto as Skeletor stole the show. He was great, he’s no Alan Oppenheimer(Cartoon Voice Actor) but then again you’re comparing a cartoon voice to a live action voice. It’s two different voices from two different era’s. Leto nails it and pits his own spin on Skeletor and the silliness is there and the iconlic laugh and mannerisms. The same is said for Nick Galiltzine who played He-man and Prince Adam. He captured both characters very well. I loved his interpretation as Adam. He’s a klutz in the cartoon and it’s showh here in the movie. I’m a little disappointed there’s not enough Cringer(his cat) but from what it looks like the budget ran out. Teela and Evil Lyn both proved to be great supporting charaters. I really liked Allison Brie as Evil Lyn, she captured that character quite well and had a certain flair to her.

I had no problem with the intro of Adam in the real world. In fact I loved it, cause it helped outline the silliness of Adam believing he is He-Man and all he needs to do is get back home and it’s here that the best scene in the movie happens. You’ll know what’s up when you see it.

The fight scenes were action packed and I enjoyed every minute of them. Watching He-Man go to toe with Skeletor was perfection and I was transported back to that 7 year old kid.

I loved the humour, It really brought out the silliness at times. Adam giving them all the mattel names definitely cracked me up. As a kid we didn’t think much of them, but now being in our 30’s and 40’s we see thse names are horrible names to give them. When you are a kid you make up these names, and to you they’re not offensive but when you say them out loud to the people they have every right to be offended, but for some reason it’s just funny. Going back to Skeletor, Leto captures the comical insanity. The first time he does the laugh and then fiinishes with the crescendo and every one is just standing there really cracked me up. I also loved how they played on the whole He-Man transformation. The whole secret and everything. Also that ending.

The credits were awesome. I loved the little touches at the end. There are three credits and I loved how they understood we can’t leave this out. People are going to go nuts over this.
