The Sound Of Everyone Sleeping
There’s something strange about being awake when everyone else is asleep.
The world becomes quieter in a way that almost feels unreal. No cars outside. No notifications. No voices in the next room. Just silence mixed with small sounds you normally never notice.
The fan spinning slowly above your head. A clock ticking somewhere far away. The sound of your keyboard late at night.
Sometimes I stay awake longer than I should just because of that feeling.
At night, everything feels different. Thoughts become louder. Memories return out of nowhere. Small problems suddenly feel bigger, while big problems somehow feel distant for a few hours.
It’s almost like nighttime creates another version of the world.
I think a lot of people know this feeling. Lying in bed while everyone else is sleeping, thinking about random moments from years ago, imagining the future, replaying conversations that didn’t matter that much.
And somehow, during those quiet hours, you understand yourself a little better.
Maybe that’s why some people secretly like staying awake late at night even when they complain about being tired the next day.
Because sometimes silence is comforting.
Sometimes the quiet feels like an escape from everything happening during the day.
And sometimes, the sound of everyone sleeping makes you feel less alone.
