Helo, it’s been a long time since i didn’t write in english, this time, i wanna share my writeup about new challenge room in TryHackMe, the room name is MeowSearch, it’s an OSINT-type challenge, this room made by my internet friend who share her new room in her social media story, when i saw it, then i was thought, why didn’t give it a shot?

She set the difficulity as Medium, so you supposed to have some knowledge of OSINT before you started, so let’s jump in, here’s the description:

The challenge

A girl was declared missing since yesterday morning, help them find out the information using CCTV traces left behind.

Okay, it’s obvious that this room is about IMINT(Imagery Intelligence), what i done first was analyze the photo, here’s the clue:

Based on the photo, there’s a girl with characteristcs below:

*her face censored.

*she wore a yellow shirt and black long skirt.

*she saw brought a backpack as well.

*it seems that she’s walking into the building.

The question is, what kind of building she was into?

So, how can i solve this challenge?

I use reverse image search like google, yandex, bing, tineye, etc, but in this case, i only need google image to get the information about the CCTV trace given, just upload the photo, and boom! i found a local news website link with the exact thumbnail in the first appear.

I was try to check exact matches of the photo, the result was similiar with the first appear of the previous result, so i thought this link is an exact answer to solve this challenge

I won’t spill the link of the article, you can find it by yourself because it’s very obvious, go read the article in detail, and the answers of the entire question are there.

Let’s jump to the questions:

1. From the image information obtained, where is the location of the incident?

Answer: Dwarkapuri

This is the misleading answer, but, however, it was stated as a correct answer, you’ll find out the reason why i said that when you start read the article, i thought the answer was supposed to be the answer that describe not just the location, but describe the exact “area” of incident happened as well, the term “area” that i stated, it could be a city, district, province, or any type of it, hopefully the answer can be revised soon by the owner.

2. From the image information obtained, what time did the incident occur?

Answer: 7.40 am -7.45 am

3. Where did the incident happen?

The question was confusing me at first, but in the end, i found out that the actual answer is an apartement building, i thought the creator of the room need to describe the meaning of “where the incident happened”, since the first question has asks about the location, which means the area/district/province/etc, this 3rd question must be a place, maybe a building, a school, on the street?

Conclusion

Well, i think there are some of things in this room that can be revised by the room owner, especially the hints, and the question themselves, they need to be made more clear, like i’ve stated in the question 1st and 3rd, and also answer typing format, somehow is a bit confusing for me, even though my answers are true, but still fun to do, worth to try to improve your OSINT skill especially IMINT.
