Don Lemon Exposes the Wall of Ignorance Protecting Trump

From COVID lies to Dave Rubin’s humiliation, Lemon shows how right-wing grift survives by keeping people confused

The right is drowning in a sea of ignorance. That’s the reason they sound so uninformed when they’re interviewed. They say that President Donald Trump never lies, even though he lies like he breathes. More than 30,000 false or misleading claims were documented during his first term in office.

Trump also promised to bring down inflation and end the war in Ukraine on Day One. Neither happened. Those are two easily documented lies.

Trump Likes Them Poorly Educated

Just recently, in the Oval Office, Trump said no other president had ever ended a war. Of course, everybody with half a brain knows that President Barack Obama ended U.S. military involvement in the Iraq War.

But the right is mainly in the dark about basic facts, and Trump likes it that way.

Don Lemon recently explored this issue on his podcast. He said there’s a reason Trump was 100 percent serious when he said that he likes the poorly educated. They’re easy to fool.

“I think that’s why Donald Trump loves the poorly educated, not because they’re dumb people. It’s because he keeps them what I’m going to coin as an information or a fact desert,” he said.

Lemon said he runs into this kind of ignorance during his man-on-the-street interviews.

Right-Wing Lies Can Be Deadly

However, right-wing lies are dangerous, and I have covered this issue exhaustively. We saw this during the COVID-19 pandemic, when people in many red states were more likely to reject vaccination and died at higher rates. They were fed this bullsh*t by right-wing media figures who told them that COVID was just the sniffles. They were lying to them, and it was deadly.

Lemon stated that there are many right-wing pundits and commentators, such as Megyn Kelly, who thrive on this. They amplify the BS that is sold to Trump supporters.

“It is the commentators. It’s the influencers. It’s the manosphere, the brosphere, the comedians, the people who get paid to go on television and defend this administration and then fall completely apart the second someone asks them a basic factual question,” said Lemon.

Dave Rubin Got Exposed

He also dissected Dave Rubin’s disastrous interview on the Surrounded podcast. The Surrounded podcast pits a liberal or a conservative against several people of the opposite political viewpoint. One of the things the podcast has highlighted is how ignorant many Trump supporters are.

In Rubin’s appearance, he was embarrassed when he couldn’t state anything good Trump had done.

According to Lemon, who knows Rubin personally, that wasn’t surprising. Lemon said that, in his experience, Rubin wasn’t that bright. He just decided to sell out in a major way.

“Dave Rubin realized that there was more money for him on the other side. As I always say, it is always the shortest line to the front. And he realized that he can make millions of dollars on that,” said Lemon.

Rubin was one of several right-wing commentators who received funding connected to a Russian influence operation, according to federal prosecutors.

Lemon said he had seen this many times from people he met while working at CNN. He specifically mentioned Kayleigh McEnany and Kellyanne Conway as two people who were once anti-Trump but later figured out they could make more money by being pro-Trump. They eventually both worked for him in the Trump White House.

Lemon also interviewed Adam Mockler, an independent journalist and political commentator who has spent years in the trenches interviewing Trump supporters at rallies and political events. He has also run into the same wall of ignorance.

Mockler said that he has found many right-wingers to be incredibly fragile and that they crumble when confronted with facts.

“When you’re out talking to people on the street, again, it’s a game of whack-a-mole. You’re going to hear everything from conspiracies that were spread by Alex Jones in 2012 to conspiracies that were spread by Donald Trump in 2025,” said Mockler.

He also lambasted Rubin, saying that he supports a movement that despises him. Rubin is gay and married to another man, yet he admits that there are people within his political movement who believe he should not have full human rights.
