๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Optimizing layers and revising reactions

In fall and winter 2021/22 MAT-CH team was kept busy with testing the general corrosion behaviour and overall functionality of the reproduceable indicator plates. The resulting alterations (corrosion) on the layers were examined on a macroscopic and microscopic scale, followed by instrumental analysis. Allthough, all test series delivered promising results and proofed the overall functionality of MAT-CH indicators, remaining deficiencies and the need for further optimization became evident once again.

Therefore, production parameters will be gradually revised, starting with the silver indicators and the variation of layer thickness. By choosing extremes, e.g. very thin/ thick layers, more information on the reaction behaviour will be collected. The same applies to the copper plates, which wonโ€™t be changed, though will get tested using a broader range of sample materials.

Last week, MAT-CH team vigorously produced complete new sets of silver indicators, accompanied by the known copper variants. For the performance test the silver plates were combined with Tyvek, Forrex classic and giko Zell, while copper was exposed to new sample material, mostly film and sheets. For accelerated reaction all test set-ups were inserted in the hot cabinet (high rH, 60ยฐC) for 28 days.

Letโ€™s see what happens?! Results are due by the end of March.
