The Weight I Carry
I’m a person, meant to pay The one who needs to lead the way. Five eyes behind me, full of trust, So I kept going, because I must.
They dream of me with steady hands, A life that’s built on firm, safe plans. They hope I rise, they trust I will, So I keep climbing, even still.
I give my time to help them grow, And leave my own needs down below. I always put myself last place, And hide the pain behind my face.
I act so strong, I wear the “face” They need to see in this hard place. But late at night, when all’s at rest, I hold the pain inside my chest.
I carry dreams not just my own, A heart that’s tired, but overgrown. And even when I’m running low, I’ll be their light. I’ll walk this road.
