UKPA Month Notes : September 2025
Hi everyone!
UKPA Month Notes : September 2025
Hi everyone!
Slightly tardy month notes this time. There’s still a lot going on — let’s break things down into four bite-size sections.
UKPA relaunch status
Boy, does this feel like it’s been going on for an age! More than once it’s felt like we were good to go only to trip over “one final thing”. This time however we’re properly, if cautiously, optimistic! The only thing stopping us now is getting full control over the ukpolyamory.org domain which we’re on track to do at the end of October. Everything is in place so as soon as we can point the new website at the existing domain we should be good to go!
We’ve got a whole plan leading up to that point so stay tuned!
Establishing a new UK-wide community leaders meeting
One of our excellent volunteers (hi Amy!) has done a fantastic job of bringing together polyamory community leaders from around the country into a new WhatsApp group. People are already getting to know each other and comparing how their groups work. We’re going to be setting up a regular online call for everyone to get to discuss how we can all learn and grow from each others experiences. The first of hopefully many is this week!
Independent financial audit
One of the things raised in the community leaders WhatsApp group was some concerns about the UKPA asking for money for membership without clarity of where it’s going. To help build confidence in our plan to only use the money to help the cause of polyamory in the UK (and to never make any personal profit) we agreed two things.
- Every month after the launch we’ll publish a link here to a spreadsheet showing the state of the organisations finances.
- Working with Ian Tustin, one of the organisers of the Gloucestershire Polyamorous Community, to provide a monthly external check of what we’re bringing in and spending.
A good news story!
I was extremely pleased to see this news story/) recently. The British Humanist Association reports that the government has announced that legal recognition for humanist marriages will be included in a new marriage-related Bill that will be introduced soon.
It’s things like this that give me hope that with perseverance and patience we will see legal recognition of plural marriage in my lifetime. There’s still a long way to go but we can learn from others that have achieved their goals and look forward to the day when we can all be recognised with the people we love.
