Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meeting at Guangzhou- 10th February 2026

Chinese port city Guangzhou hosted the first senior officials meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC ) on 10th February 2026.

While Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the inaugural meeting, being a member of the APEC, USA representatives also attended it.

Theme of the meeting “Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together”.

On 10 February 2026, China Daily shared,

“Driven by innovation, the Chinese side will promote the digital, intelligent and green transition for APEC members, said Wang , noting that the Chinese side will also work for deepening practical cooperation in various fields around development-related governance issues.”

APEC was established in 1989 to enhance economic cooperation and free trade at the pacific rim.

Consisting of 21 major economies including China and the US, at the transitional phase of geopolitics and economics, this meeting holds its unique importance.

“APEC 2026 is an important opportunity for member economies to strengthen unity, deepen cooperation and advance shared prosperity for the region.

From 1–9 February several other meetings of the APEC were going on under the goals of APEC. Emirates News Agency published, “About 300 APEC activities will also be held throughout 2026, including senior officials’ meetings and ministerial meetings.”

Innovation, digitalization, governance and above all willingness and action to resolve trade fall-outs are all about APEC meetings.
