Amazon Live Stream Hack: Pre-Recorded Videos for Stress-Free Streaming

Q4 is coming, and that means Christmas shopping and Amazon live streams are on the rise! One challenge with live streams is that sometimes things go wrong. So, when representing your own brand or doing a live stream for another brand, it can be a bit stressful to avoid making mistakes.

Luckily, you don’t actually need to be live to do a live stream! You can prerecord your video and stream it on Amazon. The downside is that you can’t answer questions live, but you can be present on your own stream with your influencer or brand profile and respond to chat questions.

Here’s how you can do an Amazon live stream with a prerecorded video:

1. Log in to your Amazon Live Creator app.
2. Set your live cover picture, link the ASINs, and add the title.
3. Click “Video Source” and select “External Camera” from the dropdown menu.
4. Next, download a free software that will act as the external camera source. This software allows you to record the premade video content and stream it to the app. I recommend OBS (https://obsproject.com/). It’s free and simple to use. Just download it to your laptop, and you’re ready to go!
5. Then, click “Get URL and Stream Key” on the Amazon Live Creator app and connect it to OBS. When you click “Get URL,” it will give you instructions, which are straightforward with just a few copy-paste steps.
6. Select your video on OBS, start streaming, and click “Go Live” on your Amazon Creator app.

Tip: Test it at least once. It can take a bit for the live video stream to start, and I’ve had experiences where the beginning of the video was cut out because I went live too soon.

If you’re a brand owner selling on Amazon, after the live session, your stream will be displayed for 24 hours on your brand store homepage, which is great. Amazon will also feature the video under your product listings, which is a bonus. Your brand followers will receive a notification when you go live.

I haven’t done this as an Amazon Associate Influencer, so I’m not certain about the specifics in that area, but I assume it works in a similar way to how it does for brands.

If you’re busy in Q4 and don’t have time to create new content or schedule live streams, you can use any landscape-format video content you already have to maintain a presence in live feeds.
