Micron Invests $1.8B in Taiwan Cleanroom Fab to Boost DRAM Production
A major step for Taiwan’s memory chip production and advanced cleanroom innovation

The U.S. memory giant Micron is acquiring Powerchip’s Tongluo factory, a 300,000 sq ft cleanroom fab, to expand DRAM production. DRAM is the fast memory used in computers, servers, and data centers. The deal is expected to close by mid-2026, with production ramping up by late 2027.
This investment highlights the critical role of cleanrooms in advanced manufacturing. Precise ventilation, temperature control, and air quality management are essential to keep these environments stable and contamination-free.
At RHVAC Taiwan, visitors and exhibitors will explore the HVAC+R technologies that support cleanrooms and data centers, the infrastructure powering semiconductors, biotech, and AI industries, and reinforcing Taiwan’s position as a global high-tech manufacturing hub.
