[Today’s QT] Take on my yoke
[Today’s QT] Take on my yoke

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)
Jesus said in today’s text to take my yoke on you. A yoke is a round, curved stick that is placed on the neck of a horse or ox to pull a cart or plow. What does Jesus mean when he tells us to carry the yoke that cattle carry? To bear a yoke is to serve the master, just as livestock obeys the master’s orders. What Jesus means when he tells us to take on our yoke is to not take on the yoke of the world or the yoke of greed and greed, which is the source of sin, but rather take Jesus Christ as our master and live a life that resembles our master.
If you bear the yoke of greed, you will think in human ways, that is, in human ways. If you bear the yoke of Jesus, you will think in God’s ways.
This is because Jesus always thinks only about the things of God and obeys them. Therefore, he must become like Jesus, who obeyed the will of God the Father. To do so, as in Mark 8:34, we must deny ourselves, think only of God, take up our cross like Jesus, and follow Him. This is taking on the yoke of Jesus Christ.
