Never a Dull Moment: Scam or Real

If it’s a scam, it’s a very weird one. The text read,

“Good morning Adrienne, this is Harold – physio from MAPS community service team. We got a physio referral from PA hospital for your daughter Stacey. I tried to call you but unable to reach you. Will Stacey be available for me to see her at home today? Look forward to hearing back from you.

Kind regards,

Harold”

My eldest daughter is Stacey and she does go to the PA hospital. I called him back and told him she was working this morning but would be home after 1 pm.

Then I thought what if it’s someone who wanted to know when she’d be home so he could burgle the place. She owns some beautiful artwork.

He calls me again. He says he had spoken to her husband Maurice who made the appointment at her home for 10.30am. I replied “she’s not married” to which he countered, “father?” I was starting to get annoyed by this stage and Keeley’s gesturing it’s a scam.

I told him bluntly “not her father” and “We don’t know anyone at all called Maurice. You must have the wrong number.” He says Stacey had a fall down her stairs on 18 June and he needs to follow up on her mobility. Stacey does have stairs but she hadn’t mentioned she had fallen. He then says her name is Stacey Mulcahy? Right? Yes. “Well she’s not home this morning.” He then double checks his records. “Stacey Lee Mulcahy? Yes. Oh I’m sorry. The person who needs my attention is Stacey Rebecca Mulcahy. I’m so sorry for worrying you.” What are the chances? What a kerfuffle!

That is why we give our children middle names!
