Why I built pocketsflow as Payments infrastructure for SaaS, AI, and digital products.
Every few years, software changes.
Why I built pocketsflow as Payments infrastructure for SaaS, AI, and digital products.

Every few years, software changes.
A decade ago, it was enough to build a website.
Then came mobile apps.
Today, anyone with an idea can launch a SaaS product, an AI application, a developer tool, a Chrome extension, an online course, a digital download, or an API business.
Building products has never been easier.
Selling them, however, is still surprisingly difficult.
That is exactly why I started building Pocketsflow.
The internet doesn’t need another payment gateway.
It needs better payment infrastructure.
There are already incredible companies in this space.
Stripe changed online payments forever.
Paddle simplified Merchant of Record for SaaS businesses.
Lemon Squeezy made selling digital products much easier.
Gumroad helped thousands of creators sell online.
Shopify became the default platform for ecommerce.
WooCommerce powers millions of WordPress stores.
These companies deserve enormous credit for growing the creator economy.
But after talking with founders, indie hackers, agencies, SaaS companies, AI startups, and developers, I noticed something.
Everyone was compromising.
Some platforms were too expensive.
Some charged high transaction fees.
Some weren’t customizable.
Some locked developers into rigid workflows.
Some focused on creators but ignored developers.
Others focused on enterprises and ignored small startups.
No platform felt like it was built by developers, for developers.
That’s where Pocketsflow begins.
The problems we kept hearing
Almost every founder building software runs into one or more of these problems.
“I just want to accept payments.”
Instead they have to think about:
- subscriptions
- taxes
- VAT
- GST
- invoices
- receipts
- webhooks
- failed payments
- payment retries
- fraud
- chargebacks
- regional payment methods
- international currencies
- compliance
- checkout design
- customer portals
Before writing a single line of product code.
Payments should never become the hardest part of building software.
Yet they often are.
Modern software deserves modern payment infrastructure
We’re no longer living in the era where businesses only sold physical products.
Today’s businesses sell
- SaaS
- AI products
- APIs
- developer tools
- templates
- ebooks
- software licenses
- Chrome extensions
- Notion templates
- Framer templates
- Figma assets
- digital downloads
- memberships
- communities
- newsletters
- courses
- subscriptions
- usage-based software
Every one of these businesses has different needs.
Yet many payment platforms force everyone into the exact same flow.
Pocketsflow is being built differently.
What is Pocketsflow?
Pocketsflow is developer-first payments infrastructure for modern internet businesses.
Instead of only being a payment gateway, we’re building the entire commerce infrastructure that developers need to sell online.
Think of it as the operating system for selling digital products.
Payments API
Every software business starts with accepting payments.
Pocketsflow provides APIs that developers can integrate in minutes.
Whether you’re using React, Next.js, Node.js, Express, Bun, Laravel, Django, Go or any modern backend, payments should be simple.
Developers shouldn’t spend weeks reading documentation.
They should spend weeks building products.
Beautiful hosted checkout
Not every company wants to build checkout pages.
Hosted Checkout lets businesses start accepting payments immediately while still providing branding, customization, and conversion optimization.
Simple for beginners.
Flexible for developers.
Subscription billing
Subscriptions power modern SaaS.
Monthly plans.
Yearly plans.
Usage-based pricing.
Seat-based pricing.
Metered billing.
Trials.
Coupons.
Proration.
Everything should work without custom engineering every single month.
Subscription billing should feel boring.
That’s a compliment.
Selling digital products
Selling digital products shouldn’t require stitching together five different platforms.
Whether you’re selling
- ebooks
- software
- AI prompts
- templates
- source code
- online courses
- PDFs
- design assets
you should be able to upload your product, generate a checkout page, accept payments globally, and deliver files automatically.
That’s what we’re building.
Merchant of Record
One of the biggest headaches for global businesses isn’t payments.
It’s compliance.
Different countries have different tax regulations.
Different regions have different reporting requirements.
Different governments expect different filings.
Merchant of Record services exist because founders want to build products — not become tax experts.
Pocketsflow aims to simplify this experience so businesses can focus on customers instead of paperwork.
Global payments
The internet is global.
Your payment infrastructure should be too.
Selling to one country is easy.
Selling to one hundred countries isn’t.
Multiple currencies.
Local payment methods.
International cards.
Regional regulations.
All of these should work together.
Webhooks
Developers love automation.
Every successful payment should trigger workflows automatically.
Provision accounts.
Send emails.
Create licenses.
Generate invoices.
Unlock downloads.
Trigger AI workflows.
Update CRMs.
Everything starts with reliable webhooks.
APIs developers actually enjoy using
Good APIs disappear.
Developers shouldn’t fight documentation.
They shouldn’t copy mysterious snippets from Stack Overflow.
They shouldn’t spend two days debugging authentication.
Developer experience matters.
Clear documentation.
Predictable APIs.
TypeScript support.
SDKs.
Examples.
Fast integrations.
That’s the standard we’re aiming for.
Built for modern founders
Pocketsflow isn’t only for one type of business.
We’re building for:
- SaaS startups
- AI companies
- indie hackers
- developers
- agencies
- creator businesses
- digital product sellers
- software companies
- API businesses
- education platforms
- communities
- newsletter businesses
- startup founders
If you sell software or digital products online, you’re exactly who we’re building for.
Why another payments company?
It’s a fair question.
The answer is simple.
Because software keeps evolving.
Payments need to evolve with it.
The next generation of businesses isn’t just ecommerce.
It’s AI agents charging per task.
Developer APIs charging per request.
Micro-SaaS products.
Open-source companies with cloud subscriptions.
Template marketplaces.
Creator tools.
Browser extensions.
Autonomous software.
The commerce infrastructure supporting these businesses should evolve too.
More than payments
Long term, I don’t see Pocketsflow as just another payment processor.
I see it becoming infrastructure.
Payments.
Subscriptions.
Merchant of Record.
Tax automation.
Chargeback management.
Developer APIs.
Hosted checkout.
Customer portals.
Product delivery.
Analytics.
Billing.
Licensing.
Everything required to sell software globally.
One platform.
One integration.
One API.
Building in public
One thing I wanted from day one was transparency.
Pocketsflow is being built in public.
That means listening to users.
Shipping quickly.
Fixing mistakes.
Talking with founders.
Improving documentation.
Making developer experience a priority.
Some of our best features will come directly from conversations with the people using the product.
That’s how good developer tools are built.
The future
Software creation has become easier than ever.
AI is helping people build products in days instead of months.
But every new product eventually faces the same question.
How do I sell it?
That question shouldn’t require months of research, dozens of integrations, or expensive enterprise contracts.
It should have a simple answer.
That’s the future we’re working toward with Pocketsflow.
If you’re building a SaaS product, an AI application, a developer tool, an API, a digital product, or anything else on the modern web, I hope Pocketsflow becomes part of your journey.
We’re just getting started.
Final thoughts
The goal was never to build another payment gateway.
The goal is to build developer-first payments infrastructure that makes selling software and digital products as simple as building them.
If that vision resonates with you, I’d love to hear what you’re building and what challenges you’ve faced with payments, subscriptions, billing, Merchant of Record services, or selling digital products online.
The best infrastructure is built alongside the people who use it.
