Day 25 of our Double Dog Dare you challenge, 100 days of writing.

What to write about? Anything. Within Reason.

May 23rd, 2026

Dear Someones Out There,

Ready for a great day? Or are you ending a great day? Ready to make it a great day?

Sometimes, you have to take a good look at yourself or your routine and decide to make a change. Some kind of change.

It can be small ones. Build from that. Doesn’t have to be earth shaking, jaw dropping, stop and look at me changes. We’re not shooting for a vacation in the crazy house, nice padded walls and a never ending supply of lime jello.

No, small changes.

Get up in the morning, maybe instead of coffee first, go for a run. And don’t say, “Ah, forget it. I’ll do it tomorrow.” Eat your breakfast at home, if you always eat out. Maybe cook a meal at home, every night. For at least a week before you give up.

Even the worst cook has at least something they can cook and it still be edible, right?

Ok, will do this, just in case, for the ones that, well, can’t cook anything. Anything. I have to admit, I have met some of these strange folks that have no cooking ability.

I have been one of those poor souls. But now, well, let’s just keep our focus here on you for the moment. Not about me.

Cooks have been trying to teach these folks, desperately trying. Those cooks are now in the crazy house, padded walls and not allowed sharp objects. But the jello’s good.

For those folks, just pick up a pizza or order in. Just make sure you add a salad to that order. They will be fine.

The point is, it’s alright to change routine. It’s healthy. The key is to keep the good routines, don’t change those. By that, I mean the ones that sort of give you balance, order to life itself, order to your mind. And only you can figure out what those routines are.

Such as making your bed up in the morning. Self care routines, such as a cold shower, are helpful. Shockingly so.

Pray if that comforts you. It’s not my cup of tea, but I am not a fan of tea.

Coffee, yes. Attempted to give it up and decided the only way I will give coffee up is if it……you know what? This isn’t about me. It’s about you, so let’s leave the coffee out of it. For now anyway.

Go outside. Go for a walk. Chase the dog. Climb a tree. Go for a bike ride but make sure the brakes work. And give up soda pops.

With one exception. If you drink Dr. Pepper, keep doing so. I have seen you folks try and give that up. It’s not a pretty sight. Not at all. Keep at least one as an emergency back up.

A person without a Dr. Pepper is like watching the Hulk try not to be the Hulk. It’s gonna happen unless you give him the medicine.

If you have a messy house, pick something to clean. At least one thing in each room. That simple. And I hear garbage bags are on sale in some places. Get your supply today. Go clean.

The point is, change will not happen unless you change something.

You can’t keep saying tomorrow. Tomorrow is like a debt collector, and not a very nice one either. Keep that in mind. Your credit is terrible, isn’t everyone’s? But don’t ever take a loan from Tomorrow.

That’s one that will dig you a grave for free.

Have a lovely day.

Sincerely,

Someone Out There
