Legal Immunity for Bayer US Must Be Stopped!

We were winning the war against pesticides, says Dr. Eric Berg, D.C., in his YouTube video, “They’re Poisoning Us Legally”. Bayer Global, the owner of Monsanto, has paid out $10 billion in settlements, and currently, there are 165,000 cancer lawsuits pending, according to Berg.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is requiring that Bayer and other chemical companies put cancer warning labels on products they wish to continue to sell in the U.S., says Kelly Ryerson in an interview from the same video. Ryerson is the proprietor of glyphosatefacts.com and ambassador for The Rodale Institute.

Bayer doesn’t want to follow the new regulations, Ryerson says.

They’re fighting back and they’re getting dirty. They’ve found a way to legally shield themselves from lawsuits and warning label requirements.

New Legislation Used as Bayer’s Power Grab

Section 453 of the 2026 Interior-Environmental Appropriations Bill that just passed through the U.S. House of Appropriations — via a secret vote — will free chemical companies from being accountable for the harm caused by their chemicals, according to Berg. He explains that this section will create a loophole that will require any “Failure to Warn” lawsuits to be automatically thrown out of court.

Currently, companies putting new chemical products on the market or needing to update their warning labels must get approval from the EPA to do so, according to westonaprice.org. Section 453, however, will remove the funding needed by the EPA to complete this process, taking away the chemical companies’ ability to update their labels at no fault of their own, according to the website.

Even when wrongful death and serious injury lawsuits make it to the courts due to people not being warned about the harmful nature of these products, says westonaprice.org, Section 453 along with the Supremacy Clause in the U.S. Constitution, will leave judges no choice but to dismiss these lawsuits since the failure to warn was not the fault of the companies. One Step Closer To Law

The next step for the appropriations bill will be the House of Representatives. This bill will be voted on by the House directly following the summer recess, according to foodandwaterwatch.org.

Berg indicates that once passed, the bill containing Section 453 will be near impossible to reverse due to the great monetary power wielded by the chemical companies. It will give these chemical companies the freedom to do as they please for a very long time, Berg says.

This law, if it is passed, will apply to 57,000 chemical products that have already been registered with the EPA, says westonaprice.org, and it will shield companies both in and out of the U.S. In essence, it will render the American public powerless to fight back against these companies when their products wreak havoc on our bodies.

The New Legislation’s Reach

These are dangerous chemicals that have serious consequences for human health. Glyphosate, the active ingredient in the Roundup pesticide, can cause Parkinson’s, cancer, ALS, and infertility, says Ryerson.

According to an article found in the National Library of Medicine titled “Toxic Effects of Glyphosate on the Nervous System: a Systemic Review”, this chemical can cross the blood-brain barrier and can have neurotoxic effects on the body, leading to behavioral or motor disorders. (2)

An article found on WebMD titled, “Glyphosate Herbicides and Your Health” says that research has found links between glyphosate and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Metabolic Syndrome, Cirrhosis and Chronic Kidney Disease. The chemical has also been shown to harm your gut health since some microbes are susceptible to this herbicide. (3)

And this is just one nasty chemical. On top of the many chemicals already in use, these companies can produce any number of new chemicals like it without warning the American public, and we will have no recourse for the harm it does to our health.

This is an excellent argument for using organic produce. However, according to Kara Mayer Robinson and Shelly Shepard, authors of the WebMD article, glyphosate has been known to make its way into organic produce in trace amounts. Is there any way to be safe?

Fight Back Now!

So, do we have to just sit back and watch as Bayer and any number of other companies prepare to leave human health in the dust? No, there is something we can do. But we must act now, and we must act together.

Ryerson says the first step is to contact your state congressman. Tell your representative that you don’t support any language that gives chemical companies immunity. You don’t want to be poisoned, and you don’t want 57,000 chemicals protected.

Next, go to stoppoison.org and fill out the online form to be a part of Ryerson’s email list. You will receive updates pertaining to this bill and information on any other actions you can take.

The Bottom Line

Just as we are making some headway towards getting some of these dangerous chemicals off the market and away from our food, Bayer makes a move to wield all the power. Through section 453, Chemical companies are taking our ability away to ever fight back, so they can unleash countless poisons into our food supply without warning and with complete immunity from recourse. It’s nothing less than an evil power grab.

We mustn’t just sit back and let it happen. We must all stand up and make our voices heard in a big way. We must tell the people with the power to stop this legislation. Tell them we don’t want it. We don’t want to be poisoned by our food. We don’t want these companies protected. We must keep fighting for a healthy food supply that is good for our bodies, good for our minds, and good for our environment. We must stand up and be heard!
