You Are A New Creation In Christ!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

This truth is at the heart of the gospel. When you came to Christ, you became a completely new man, a complete transformation of identity. The old you, shaped by sin, guilt, and fear, was crucified with Christ. That life no longer defines you. In its place, a new life was born, one that carries the nature and righteousness of God.

Your old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts has been crucified with Christ, you are no longer defined by who you used to be before Christ came into your life.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Colossians 3:8–11.

How do you put off the old man? by declaring and living out what Cod has said concerning you in his word. For example, you felt fear, what does God’s word say concerning that, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7;

So you declare that God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind over and over again till your heart comes to a place of assurance that fear no longer exist in this new man.

The way to overcome sin consciousness is by nurturing righteousness consciousness. Keep putting off the old man by consistently declaring and affirming the truths of God’s Word concerning who you are in Christ.
