Introduction to Medium

I’ve been sitting on the idea of starting a Medium account for nearly a decade, but it’s only now, a year into motherhood, that I am finally ready to sit down and write.

The monotony of daily life gives need for a creative outlet, and the desire to be a better mom has me finding ways to exercise my mind (writing) and my self discipline (weekly). Medium checks both boxes.

Now, about me. I am a stay at home mom and have known this was my calling in life from a young age, likely from being raised by one. Maybe it’s not as romantic a lifestyle as one would like to imagine, but it sure is a fulfilling one.

I’m a cliché in the fact I also want to homeschool ten children and buy a piece of earth to raise them on — with chickens, of course.

I have countless interests and a list of hobbies that is ever growing. Recently I’ve been focusing on needlepoint, with a hope to get into sewing this year. I love cooking and baking, expectantly. I love all sorts of literature and I’m currently working my way through Crime and Punishment, which makes apparent the one downside to having a baby: not being able to curl up on a nice snowy day and read an entire book.

She has improved my life in so many ways, and I love her dearly, but I miss a good rot day, dammit!

I suppose I should cover the basics too. I am in my late 20s, Canadian, Christian (Lutheran-esque), and shockingly unorganized. If you can expect anything from this page, it’s that there will not be a niche. One week I might share a parenting struggle, and the next I’ll give you my take on overconsumption culture.
