Changing Companies and Evolving Enterprises: 1

By Guy Routledge

  1. With significant investment and fresh financial backing Woom, a German start-up which produces bikes specifically for children, has expansion plans. Indeed, its bikes will soon be produced in Poland and as a maker of electronic bikes too, which contributes to sustainability, exciting times are ahead for the start-up.
  2. Formed in Germany but taking its first steps in the USA — Tchibo is getting started with test markets in 8 American states in the Midwest, and should all go to plan, the company will expand from there. The coffee market is growing on the other side of the Atlantic according to the coffee giant, and it wants a piece of the pie.
  3. With not only COVID-19 rampant but also Brexit on the horizon, the UK probably isn’t at the top of a supermarket chain giant’s expansion list. But Aldi’s sales have actually gone up in the country and it now intends to invest £1.3 billion and open 100 new branches before the end of 2021. A risk or a master stroke?
