Realizing the Natural Changes in Our Mental State

Do you ever notice this?
Sometimes, we wake up in the morning feeling good and full of energy. But after just an hour or two, something changes, one heavy thought keeps coming back, and suddenly we don’t feel the same.
And then there are days when we wake up feeling low or off… But by afternoon, everything feels lighter again, and it’s like the heaviness never existed.
We feel confident for a while, then doubtful the next.
And that’s all right. Because, like the weather, your mental condition isn’t constant.

We’re Not Expected to Feel the Same All the Time
We frequently think that we need to remain consistent, optimistic, and productive every time. In actuality, though, our thoughts are living things. They transform. They respond. They sense.
Our mind feels different every day, just like your body does.
There are some bright days. Some people feel confused. Some are simply in the middle.
It’s Not Our weakness. It’s Human Nature
Just because you lack motivation today does not mean that you are not succeeding. You’re not broken because you’re having trouble understanding emotions. It’s simply the natural rhythm of your thinking.
We are taught to be “strong,” “consistent,” and “always on” by the world. However, seasons exist in nature as well. You perform, too.
What Affects Our Emotions?
Our mental state can be affected by numerous factors:
A conversation
A memories
A musical composition
A social media comment
Our sleep
Health, weather, hormones, or even the news
Sometimes it’s multiple things and nothing at once, rather than just one major thing.
Be Gentle With the Changes
When the emotions aren’t right,
Hold on. Take a breath. Don’t pass judgment.
Do not encourage yourself to feel better right away.
Identify your emotions without intending to address them.
“This is just for now, not forever,” remind yourself.
Your state of mind is a visitor, not a permanent residence.
What Increases Mental Equilibrium?
Take a walk in the open air
Expressing your feelings in writing
Speaking with a listener instead of a fixer
Taking a nap and drinking water
Listening to music, creating art, or anything else from the heart
Just letting yourself feel shame-free
The Mind is a River That Flows
We shouldn’t count on your mental state to be constant. It flows, changes, rises, and falls like a river.
Feeling different today than you did yesterday is normal. It’s alright to not feel okay and then to feel okay again.
Therefore, avoid getting stressed out when your thoughts fluctuate. Just take note. Simply take a breath. Simply be.
Because the mental storm will calm down and peace will return.
