Finding Ibn Khaldoun in western Dytopia.

When I read the summary of western Sci -fi novel “Feed”, I immediately saw a connection to the 14th-century Arab scholar Ibn Khaldoun.

The book describes a high tech future full of luxury, isolation and a decaying society. This is exactly what Ibn Khaldoun warned about centuries ago. He wrote that civilizations start to fall when they become too obsessed with comfort and luxury. However, it made me wonder why Western education often ignores the rich philosophy and history of the Arabic world.

As a student with an advanced Arabic background, I notice a big gap in what we learn. Western schools usually focus only on Europian thinkers while ignoring brilliant minds from the East. But these classical ideas are universal .we can see this in how human dreams change over time.

As a girl, our dreams of love change with technologhy. First we are like Cinderella dreaming of a prince on a horse, or princes jasmine on a flying carpet. Later,the dream changes to a man with a car, and a man coming by airplane. Today, a modern girl must dream of a rocket coming from space, like Elon Musk.

The technology changes from horses to rockets, but the human heart is still looking for the exact same thing love and connection.

This proves that while the tools like the radio, televesion, or brain computers evolve, human nature stays the same. The goal is always one, but the means are different. The world of literature and education becomes much wider and wiser when we stop ignoring half of global history and start listening to all voices.
