Why We Are Born

There are many questions about “why we are born.” The origin of life itself is something we have never truly understood. Instead, perhaps we should be asking a different question: “Now that we are born, how should we live, and for what purpose?”

Many people either don’t know or have never reflected on these questions. Some may think it’s fine to just live day by day, believing we have plenty of time — so much that there’s no need to search for answers right now. Others may be aware of these questions all along, yet still cannot truly find the answers.

I believe that discovering the real answers requires going through experiences and experimenting with life in many forms. From birth to adulthood, we learn what is right and wrong, good and bad, often guided by our feelings. Some people spend their entire lives searching for the answer to why they were born — and continue searching endlessly.

We often hear many reasons people give for living: love — because we find happiness in sharing it; fame and recognition; wealth and material things that fulfill desires. These may be life goals for some. Others may believe that true happiness lies in having nothing at all — emptiness, stillness — like the teachings of Buddhism.

In reality, most people, including myself, desire almost all of the things mentioned above. But what might happen if we changed our perspective? If we chose what we truly want most in life and made that goal clearer? There is a saying that life has no fixed formula. Still, I believe we can create simpler goals and methods to better understand ourselves — something easy to explain, not complicated. And perhaps one day, we will finally discover the answer: why we were born to be here, for what purpose, or for whom… Or maybe, the answer has been right beside us all along.
