Homage to the Blessed One, the Worthy One, the Fully Enlightened One, the Gauthama Buddha !!!

Having paid homage to the Omniscient Ones who were born in the pure lineage of the noble clan and who are completely purified from all defilements, I shall narrate the Mahavamsa, which contains many chapters without omission. Although this chronicle was composed by the elders of ancient times, in some places the events have been described in excessive detail, while in other places they have been presented very briefly. There are also various repetitions. Therefore, removing those shortcomings, I shall present that traditional Mahavamsa in a clear manner so that it can be easily read and understood, and so that it may arouse serene inspiration and spiritual urgency. You noble listeners should hear it with devotion — developing faith in the passages that inspire reverence and a sense of awe and trembling awareness in the passages that arouse spiritual urgency.

නමෝ තස්ස භගවතෝ අරහතෝ සම්මා සම්බුද්ධස්ස!!!

ශ්‍රී ශුද්ධ වංශයෙහි උපන් (සකල ක්ලේශයන් කෙරෙන්) අත්‍යන්ත පාරිශුද්ධ වූ සර්වඥයන් වැඳ නොඅඩු නොයෙක් පරිච්ඡේද ඇත්තා වූ මහාවංශය කියන්නෙමි. මේ වංශ තෙම පැරැන්නන් විසින් කරන ලද්දේ නමුත් ඇතැම් තැන් ඉතා වැඩියෙන් විස්තර කරන ලද්දේ ය. ඇතැම් තැන් ඉතා කෙටියෙන් දක්වන ලද්දේය. නොයෙක් පුනරුක්ත දෝෂ ඇත්තේ ය. ඒ අඩුපාඩු ඉවත්කර පහසුවෙන් කියවීමට හා අවබෝධ කර ගැනීමට හැකි පහන් සංවේගය උපදවන්නා වූ පරම්පරායාත වූ ද ඒ මහා වංශය (කියන්නෙමි. සත්පුරුෂයෙහි නුඹලා) ප්‍රසාද උපදවන්නා වූ තන්හි ප්‍රසාදය ද එසේම සංවේග ජනක තන්හි භයකම්පා ද උපදවමින් ශ්‍රවණය කරව්. |
