2026 Daily Affirmation #178

“Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorrowful in a godly way, that you might not suffer loss in any way through us. Godly sorrow produces repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but the sorrow of the world produces death” (2 Corinthians 7:9–10, MEV). God loves us enough to challenge us to truly see the truth. This isn’t an individual truth. This is HIS truth. THE truth. Objective and absolute truth. It isn’t something we like to always hear. Because we all have our own ideas, preferences, and prejudices. We think this is good because it feels good or because we enjoy it or because we’re drawn to it. But every desire doesn’t need to be expressed. Every longing doesn’t need to be satisfied. There is WAY more good in this world when you look for it. So many more beneficial things for us that not. But they don’t get airplay. Or they are marginalized or flat-out mocked. It takes God’s point of view to see clearly. None of us are perfect at seeing it. Or accepting it. But when we do, we have the opportunity to clear the air. To let Him remove the hooks. To get free of all the nonsense and breathe. When we clearly see God’s point of view on something, it should inspire us and challenge us. Challenge us to put our preferences away and align with His moral character. It can take some effort on our part (Romans 12:2), but He is right there to help us through everything. To walk us through the challenge to let go of what WE think and to embrace what HE thinks. Our desire should always be to align with Him. To see less of us and more of Him in our lives every day (John 3:30). To let Him transform us into His image, His likeness, and His nature (2 Corinthians 5:21). It isn’t an overnight thing. It takes a lifetime to get His Light into every corner of our lives and our thinking (2 Corinthians 3:18). He is faithful to complete what He began with our salvation (Philippians 1:6). We should be faithful to listen.
