TVS Akula 310 coming in 2016, excited?

India’s very first home grown sports bike (apart from the Pulsar) the TVS Akula 310, is confirmed for a launch sometime this year. The bike with carbon fiber bits was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and garnered a lot of attention. The bike showcased TVS’s prowess and how the company has matured form making mopeds to this. TVS might introduce a limited edition carbon fiber Akula, which will source the carbon fiber components from BMW.

The bike, which looks looks nothing short of any other high end superbike was made in collaboration with BMW. The Akula 310 uses the BMW G310’s 313cc, backward-tilted, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with DOHC, developing 34 hp (25 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. Not only that, the Akula also uses the BMW’s G310R’s front fork, rear suspension and alloy wheels.

Other features on the bike will include USD forks, radial calipers, highly stiff space frame chassis, aluminium sub frame and the cast alloy swing arm. All of these are amazing features, never seen before in an Indian made superbike. The extent to which TVS is going to make sure this bike is perfectly commendable.

The bike is all set for a laucnh sometime this year. However, BMW will first introduce the BMW G310R, which will be manufactured by TVS. Another reason to start saving.
