I Wish I Could Play a Game Designed by Moebius

My pc screen has this photo as its wallpaper for… like three years, I guess? It’s called “Paris of the Future”, and even after all this time it still makes me stop, look at the details and think.

I wonder where those three future-people are going. They’re obviously on some kind of adventure. Can I be their friend and join them? And oh, there’s that flying, weird mechanism. I wish I could use that. And the Eiffel Tower of the future standing right there! That’s what Moebius does with his drawings: he teleports you into the worlds he’s built.

And I just can’t imagine how so many current games fall short of that. I scroll through their screenshots, and no. I don’t feel the urge to be part of them. I don’t feel any curiosity about their universes (at least most of the time).

So I’m thinking: wouldn’t Moebius have been an amazing game artist? I’d play his Paris of the Future for hours. That’s for sure.
