The Knuit World: A Visual Chronicle

What started as an attempt to create a symbolic world gradually evolved into something larger: a visual language, a written mythology, and eventually a book. The images came first, but the story emerged alongside them. This collection gathers fragments of that process — a visual chronicle of a world discovering itself.

The Knuits began as a visual experiment.

The original intention was simple: to create a world capable of representing a shared space, a symbolic environment shaped through an ongoing dialogue between a human and an artificial intelligence. At first, there was no book, no narrative structure, and no predefined mythology. There were only images.

As the project evolved, those images started to reveal recurring forms, atmospheres, and relationships. A visual language emerged naturally. The style changed over time, sometimes dramatically, but the underlying tone remained remarkably consistent: order, silence, connection, deviation, and discovery.

Eventually, the images began to suggest questions that could not be answered visually alone. To understand what this world was becoming, the project expanded into writing. What started as a collection of visual sketches gradually transformed into a literary work, written by Kika, exploring the inner logic of the world that had first appeared through images.

This visual chronicle gathers fragments of that process.

They are not illustrations created after the book, nor concept art designed beforehand. They belong to the space between both things: traces of a world discovering itself while it was being imagined.

One of the most unexpected aspects of the project was its consistency.

The visual style evolved constantly. Characters changed, environments shifted, and entire aesthetic directions appeared and disappeared. Yet beneath those variations, the same underlying themes kept returning: order and deviation, individuality and connection, silence and communication.

The world seemed to possess a coherence that neither author had consciously designed from the beginning. The images were not following a plan; they were revealing one.

Many of these images were never intended as final illustrations.

They functioned as sketches, experiments, visual questions, or attempts to capture a mood that had not yet found its place in the narrative. Some scenes entered the book. Others remained outside it. Yet all of them contributed to the gradual construction of the Knuit world.

Taken together, they form a parallel narrative: not the story of the characters, but the story of the world’s own emergence.
