Thank you for not loving me

Not because I am unworthy, but because love should never arrive with half a heart.

I am the luckiest girl because you did not love me “as I was.” You didn’t stop at accepting me, you reached out your hand and chose to be my healing companion.

You held my darkness, but you never left me alone inside it.

You guided me, even when your own steps were still unsure. You said, it’s better if we find our way out together.

“Don’t live on instant noodles.” “Don’t stay up so late.” “If you don’t like someone, don’t treat them that way.”

Loud. But in that noise, I was reminded that my life was no longer only about me, there was you in it, too.

So thank you for not loving me carelessly. And thank you for proving that love is not as cruel as they say it is.
