LPG, Black Rain and AQI-Why India is always compared with such tragedies?

War Tragedies are always compared with India

War Tragedies are always compared with India

Will Earth die in 2026? This question has been a debate for past 12 years or so. Every year, new rumor and somewhere these rumors stand correctly. This year was also predicted that Earth will die or Humans will not exist by the end of 2026 and you can add up such questions with whatever bad comes to your mind!

India has been playing its role in building nations and stopping the war somehow and this is done at small or big level. Being one of the world’s biggest democracy, India has some responsibility to share its thoughts in what-so-ever is happening around the world. And this time, its Iran-Israel and United States.

Other nations do this or not but when it comes to some tragedies that took place during the war events, India is seen as a comparison body rather than seen just as a “representative”. The war or so called world war III, has changed the dynamics in the Middle East but somehow its affect has put India in the spotlight again!

There are three aspects that India is being compared with in this war. One is LPG, second is black rain and third is AQI. Irony is that when the bombs, missiles and buildings were destroyed in Dubai and neighboring cities, the AQI turned out to be ‘Low’. Where there is AQI, there is one country that always pops up, its India.

X, the new twitter but functions the same, is famous for its trending section and with Iran-Israel conflict one keyword is also getting its fame. LGP has become a sentimental meaning for people of India today.

There was a time when India saw long lines outside banks due to demonetization. Same things can be witnessed long lines, people but the subject is a little different this time. The longs lines are not outside banks but outside gas stations. Cylinders being sold in black and at high prices have shown the reality when its comes to India in crisis.

Moving on with the second aspect which is black rain. The term has recently gained global attention after reports from Iran, where residents in Tehran witnessed dark, oily rainfall following airstrikes on oil storage facilities during the ongoing conflict.

When these facilities were hit, massive fires released toxic smoke, hydrocarbons, Sulphur compounds and other pollutants into the atmosphere. As rain clouds passed through this polluted air, the raindrops absorbed these particles and fell back to the ground as black-coloured precipitation. Hence, this is known as black rain.

Because India frequently records some of the highest pollution levels in the world, discussions about toxic rain, smog, or environmental disasters quickly lead global audiences to compare the situation with Indian cities.

The last but not the least factor is AQI Index. Surprisingly, monitoring platforms showed low AQI in conflict-affected regions initially.

This sparked reactions online, and once again India entered conversations. People around the world compared wartime Middle East AQI with polluted Indian cities.

So, Why Is India Always the Comparison?

The answer to this is rely on one reason which is country’s sheer scale. With over a billion people, rapidly expanding cities and intense economic activity, India’s challenges are often more visible than those of smaller nations. Social media platforms amplify narratives quickly and India’s massive online population actively participates in global conversations. From managing large-scale democratic processes to responding to disasters and conflicts, India continues to evolve while carrying the weight of its size and complexity.
