When One Device Replaced Three on My Setup

For a long time, my setup felt a bit… crowded.

A flashlight on one side, a laser on another, and something else trying to do IR work. It worked, but it never felt clean. Too many switches, too many things to think about in the middle of a game.

Then I tried running a PEQ-16 style unit — one device that combines a visible laser, IR laser, illuminator, and a 600-lumen flashlight into a single package .

So it’s not for everyone. If you like highly modular setups, this might feel limiting.

Final Thought

The PEQ-16 I’ve been using is from Somogear, but the takeaway isn’t really about the brand.

It’s about what happens when you simplify your setup.

Less clutter. Less thinking. More attention on the game.

And sometimes, that’s a bigger upgrade than any spec sheet.
