Glance

Among all the people, all the places, our paths cross and our eyes find each other in the noise of the world. I search for you everywhere I go, hoping to catch a glimpse of you that will give me hope and make my day better.

The strange thing is, I don’t even know your name, yet there is something about you that gives me a reason to go out. Not seeing you is the greatest disappointment of my day; it leaves me feeling sad and lonely.

I know you see me too, but I don’t understand why we never smile at each other, or at least say hello. I know you look for me, waiting for our eyes to meet, but why don’t you make a move? Why do you just stand there?

Maybe you did once, and I missed it. Maybe I misunderstood your signal, or maybe I looked away at the wrong moment. I don’t know.
