2112; were we ever meant to be?

It started with a simple introduction, carrying a quiet romantic vibe. Before I knew it, we were already tangled in each other’s hearts. And somehow, I kept asking myself — were we ever meant to be?

Everything grew from the smallest things. A simple hello turned to romantic visions. Back then, I was young and convinced this would play out like a romance movie. I knew there was distance between us, but I still believed that genuine feelings could somehow beat it.

I knew the risk was huge, but I chose to love anyway. I let you become my comfort, my version of home and I stayed longer than I probably should have. Somewhere along the way, that’s when the emptiness started to settle in.

I used to believe our meeting was fate — like the universe knew. But as time passed, the obstacles got louder, and reality slowly caught up with me. I started to realize that this story might never end the way I once imagined.

But clocks keep on ticking, and life keeps on going. To hold back each other true fate, it’s not our nature. Let’s be mature. So I stopped holding onto you — and stopped holding back my feelings too. I tried to be realistic — maybe you weren’t made for me, nor I for you. Even so, deep down, I know the love was real, and it’s hard to accept that something so deep could end this way.

I knew how this would end, stuck in the same cycle over and over. Still, I kept lying to myself, hoping there’d be a better way out. And now I get it — the better way was never staying, it was choosing to walk our own paths.
