Day 5: Redemption, Revelation, and Nigeria in Full Colour

It would be unfair to start this writing without acknowledging the effort and excellence of Soul Rhythm. From Day 1 to Day 5, they have been putting in the work — even though their performance for Nigeria Day seemed a little off. We get that it can be overwhelming and stressful 😅 — we sha been get expectations oh.

Then came the evening, and they redeemed themselves beautifully.

Soul Flame were in the building. They brought the heat to the room, and I must say — Mario is in a league of his own. That old-time hip-hop blend with rooted, deliberate words. Every line hits precisely on the beat. I can tell you now: Mario is going to be a world-class artist and a blessing to his generation. Just watch.

*The session was taken over immediately by DC High Priest, who introduced the prolific Pastor Olatunde Ayeni. If you’ve ever sat under his teaching before, you can testify — his teachings and illustrations are simple, applicable, and land with just enough humour to keep you attentive😅. Well, mostly. People were still dozing here and there — but no be their fault; air conditioner dey blow, na why.

Pastor T, as he is called, led us to see that the most important thing that announces enlargement is adversity. He showed us how humans can be tempted to settle for the security of little instead of exploring the opportunities of “More”. In his words:

"Don’t settle. Where you are is still small. God has more — He has more for you."

"Those who don’t make room don’t see God move. Enlargement is always on the other side of affliction…"

Nigeria Day: One Nation on the Dance Floor*

Let’s talk about the morning session of Day 5, also known as Nigeria Day. The ethnic veins of YWAP Boothcamp bled with multiple cultural attires — from the Yoruba Asoèbi to the Mada cultural attire, to the contemporary native. The hall was full of joy, and smiles were on every face.

Every center led the dance floor one after another, with certain persons spotted joining almost every center to dance and celebrate — a picture of what we really are: one nation, not different tribes, languages, or centers.

We prayed for the peace of Nigeria, our Jerusalem, and laid our petitions before the Lord who has blessed Nigeria and delivered her time and time again.

House Targaryen of Dragonstone seem to have been present in camp this year. Tissan was recognized as Lord of the White Hair as of day of arrival — and just like that, camp had its own House Targaryen moment. Suddenly, white hair began appearing on more heads than usual 😂 — una dey share update, una no tell us neh? Boys just dyeing hair white everywhere. Some look amazing, by the way. Others… are sha made in the image of God. That’s all I can say.

The Day We Waiting For Is Here

Camp is gradually coming to an end 😭 — but we can’t have an end without a stand city. I have a feeling this year’s edition will be different from every other one. We’ll have to wait and see what God has prepared for us.
