Two Kentucky teenage friends who stuck together until the very end will be buried ‘side by side’ after an attempt to break up with one of their boyfriends ended in an apparent murder-suicide.

Jedance Hale, 18, and Lila Asher, 19, were both found dead in a car alongside James Priddy, 21, following a police chase in Laurel County on Saturday night.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said deputies were notified about an ongoing police chase from Knox County around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.

According to Root, the Barbourville City Police Department was chasing a red Chevrolet Cobalt after concerned parents reported a possible domestic violence situation after three people left a home in Barbourville.

Dispatch audio details more than 30 minutes of the chase from Knox County to Laurel County involving the Chevy Cobalt.

“Once the officer located the vehicle, he was nearly struck head-on by the vehicle,” said Chief Adam Townsley of Barbourville Police.

The sheriff’s office said the chase came to an end on KY 312 in southern Laurel County after Barbourville Police tried to box in the suspect’s car, which hit another vehicle and stopped.

Police approached the car and found the horrific scene.

WKYT reported that police first received a 911 call from a mother who told the dispatcher she was worried about her daughter, who was in a car with a man and his girlfriend.

“She tells me that they got proof that this female has been trying to leave him all day,” the dispatcher reported, per the outlet. “Trying to get her. This male has took off with her.”

Deputies on scene found Priddy, Hale, and Asher dead from gunshot wounds to the head inside the car.

‘All indications are that apparently James Priddy shot and killed Hale and Asher, then killed himself,’ the sheriff’s office said.

Hale and Asher were described by their families as two vibrant young women who had a close friendship.

Asher had recently given birth to a baby girl, according to her social media posts.

“They were two innocent girls. One was a mom to a baby girl and it’s just shocking to everybody,” Mackenize Watts, who was friends with both of the slain teenagers, told Lex 18.

‘I can’t imagine the grief they’re feeling from something like this. It’s just unimaginable,’ Laurel County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Gilbert Acciardo said.

Their sudden loss has left their families and friends in shock, struggling to find the words and strength to move forward.

‘Lila and Jedance shared a deep bond, always wanting to be together, and their loved ones are determined to honor that wish by holding their funerals side by side,’ Hale’s relatives said in a GoFundMe.

Shockingly, Priddy’s mother also launched a fundraiser for her accused killer son — calling him “a good kid” who “brought so much joy to our lives and to those around him.”

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.

If you are experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1–800–799–7233, or go to thehotline.org. All calls are toll-free and confidential. The hotline is available 24/7 in more than 170 languages.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health challenges, emotional distress, substance use problems, or just needs to talk, call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org 24/7.

Although no mention of previous domestic violence had been reported, you still wonder about the violent nature of the relationship. If the teen was too scared to approach him alone and asked a friend to go with her, that says a lot about the situation.
