The Future of HR Isn’t Human vs AI — It’s Human + AI
How embracing AI transformed me from an operations-heavy HR leader into a more strategic, impactful professional.

When I started my career in Human Resources, success meant being highly organized, responsive, and detail-oriented. My days were filled with recruitment drives, onboarding, employee records, HR operations, documentation, compliance, and countless conversations with team members.
Like many HR professionals, I often found myself buried in repetitive administrative tasks while trying to stay connected to the human side of the work.
Then AI arrived in the workplace.
Like many of my peers, my initial reaction was a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. But unlike most, I didn’t just wonder about these questions, I had to answer them almost every single day from my own team members.
As a leader in HR Operations and now VP Operations at Knovik, I constantly heard the same concerns:
- Will AI replace HR jobs?
- Can technology really understand people?
- Will recruitment become completely automated?
Instead of dismissing these fears, I made it part of my role to mentor and guide my team through them. While I was still learning the best ways to use AI myself, I started sharing what I discovered, showing them how AI could become a powerful ally rather than a threat.
Today, after several years of actively integrating AI into my worK, first at Enadoc and now at Knovik, I see things very differently.
AI hasn’t replaced what makes HR valuable. It has amplified it.
My Journey with AI
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in HR Operations, People & Culture, and digital-first environments. At Enadoc, I gained hands-on experience with HR digital transformation, including tools like Evia Sign. Later at Knovik, leading operations and global talent acquisition for European roles, I’ve successfully placed over 100 tech professionals from South Asia.
Working in these tech-forward organizations taught me a crucial truth: The future of HR is not about choosing between people and technology, its about intelligently combining both.
As someone who genuinely enjoys learning new tools, I started experimenting with AI, not out of pressure, but out of genuine interest. I even completed LinkedIn Learning certifications like Applied AI for Human Resources and HR and Digital Transformation. Instead of viewing AI as a threat, I treated it as a powerful new team member.
That mindset shift changed everything.
What AI Changed in My Daily HR Work
1. Recruitment Became Smarter & Faster Reviewing hundreds of resumes used to consume entire days. Today, AI tools help me quickly summarize profiles, identify key skills, match candidates against job requirements, and generate tailored interview questions.
At Knovik, this has been game-changing for placing South Asian tech talent into European roles. AI handles the initial heavy lifting, but I still make every final decision. The technology gives me more time to truly understand candidates, their motivations, cultural fit, and potential.
2. Writing Became Much More Efficient Whether drafting job descriptions, HR policies, employee communications, performance review templates, or internal announcements, AI provides strong first drafts in minutes.
I no longer stare at blank pages. Instead, I focus on refining tone, ensuring cultural alignment, and adding the human touch that reflects our organization’s values.
3. Data Became Truly Actionable HR generates massive amounts of data, turnover rates, engagement scores, recruitment metrics, training completion, and performance trends.
Previously, turning that data into insights could take days. Now AI helps surface patterns and trends quickly, allowing us to move from assumptions to evidence-based decisions.
4. Employees Receive Faster, Better Support Routine queries about leave policies, benefits, or procedures no longer tie up HR time. AI-powered assistants handle these efficiently, freeing us for high-value work: career coaching, conflict resolution, wellbeing support, and leadership development.
AI Didn’t Reduce the Human Side of HR — It Enhanced It
The more AI handles repetitive tasks, the more time we have for what truly matters:
- Deep listening
- Coaching and mentoring
- Building trust
- Supporting managers
- Developing people
- Strengthening organizational culture
Empathy, leadership, and genuine human connection cannot be automated, and they never will be.
The Biggest Lesson I’ve Learned
The greatest gift of AI isn’t just productivity. It’s capacity.
I now spend far less time on administrative work and much more on strategic initiatives that create real organizational impact. My experience as an HR professional hasn’t become less valuable, it has become more valuable because I can apply it where it matters most.
Technology provides information. HR professionals provide wisdom, context, and empathy. The magic happens when both work together.
Advice for HR Professionals Who Haven’t Started Yet
You don’t need to become a technical expert or AI engineer. You simply need to become AI-curious.
Start small. Use AI for:
- Drafting emails and job descriptions
- Generating interview questions
- Summarizing meeting notes
- Analyzing employee survey feedback
- Brainstorming engagement ideas
- Organizing documentation
Learn one use case at a time. The goal is not to replace your thinking, it’s to remove unnecessary work so your thinking becomes even sharper and more impactful.
Looking Ahead
As HR continues to evolve, the professionals who will thrive are not necessarily those with the most years of experience, but those who continuously learn, adapt, and embrace new ways of working.
I’ve seen firsthand how AI simplifies processes, improves decision-making, and creates better employee experiences. But technology is only as good as the people guiding it.
For me, adopting AI wasn’t about following a trend. It was about becoming a better HR leader, one who can deliver more strategic value while staying deeply connected to people.
Final Thoughts
Human Resources has always been, and will always be, about people.
That core truth remains unchanged. What is changing is how we support them. AI is not here to replace HR professionals, it is here to empower us to focus on what humans do best: building relationships, making thoughtful decisions, and creating workplaces where people can truly thrive.
I’m excited about the future, not just for AI, but for the evolution of HR itself.
