Blowing With the Wind

Making Myself Light Enough

Oh to be light enough to jump into the air And continue to rise effortlessly The wind welcoming me Obligingly carrying me along

Brisk enough to provide sustained movement Yet gentle enough to feel safe and protected Not caring where she will convey me Trusting that the journey itself will be worthwhile

Rising high enough to gain perspective on the world below To see the green highlighting the landscape Noticing how the rivers patiently overcome all obstacles The mountains and forests outshining all human constructions Nature’s own cathedrals I linger briefly for a prayer of thanksgiving

Clouds drift all around me As creatures of the skies approach Not seeing me as a threat For this is their domain after all Welcoming me as a fellow adventurer Though puzzled by my discordant singing

Queried as to where lies my nest Amazed when told there was no one place Where I could rest and find peace Saddened that I traveled alone

It is the lack of noise that strikes me There are sounds aplenty But my mind is quiet In a manner that makes me want to cry in happiness But at the same time burdened By the knowledge that I shall soon be earthbound once again

I wondered what allowed for this lightness of being That I might capture its essence So I might drink from it more often in the future

My heart supplies the answer Letting go of my constant worrying About things over which I have no control Stop trying to understand everything Accepting that my mind Is not capable of grasping the wonders of the universe

Focus on finding peace within myself Shrinking my ego Forgiving myself my omissions and commissions vis-a-vis others Let love be my guide Hope my anchor And God my refuge and strength
