Hello fellow gamers! I hope you’re all having a great day. Today, I’d like to take a moment to discuss a standout title from the legendary Zelda series. This post marks the beginning of what I hope will be a great conversation about some of my favorite games in the Zelda franchise.

To kick things off, I want to talk about the game that tops my list — and I know many of you will feel the same way: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Let’s dive in and explore what makes this game my absolute favorite. By the end of this article, I’d love to hear your thoughts — do you agree, or does another Zelda game hold the top spot for you? Share your favorite, and let’s discuss!

My First Experience with Ocarina of Time

I first experienced Ocarina of Time on Christmas Day in 1998, when it was released as a brand-new game for the Nintendo 64. Before that, I hadn’t really played any Zelda games — my only previous encounter was with the original Zelda on the NES, which didn’t quite capture my interest. However, after seeing the TV commercials for this new release, I was intrigued and decided to give it a try. That decision turned out to be fantastic; from the moment I played it for the first time, I was hooked for life.

What Made the Game Feel So Special

I instantly became captivated by the game — it felt flawless to me. The gradual introduction at the start allowed me to get comfortable with both the character and the controls, which is a big part of why I appreciate it so much. It was a game where I could take my time and play however I wanted. There were plenty of side quests to explore, which made it easy to get lost in this wonderful world. The music in every area helped set the tone beautifully, and everything looked amazing at the time, especially with the improved graphics and the new 3D effects of the system.

The One Part That Always Frustrates Me

I genuinely found the entire game to be a joy to play, though there were a few sections that felt more like a chore than pure fun. I wonder if others have had that same experience — the moments in games where you push through a part you don’t enjoy just to get back to the best bits. For me, the Water Temple was always that section. It could get frustrating because it was so easy to make a mistake and end up repeating tasks or constantly backtracking. Despite that, the overall adventure was so rewarding that those challenging moments didn’t take away from my love for the game.

Why Ocarina of Time Is My Favorite Zelda Game

I feel that this game has an amazing story, supported by how fun it is to play. I enjoy games where the locations, characters, and intense boss battles are memorable, along with side quests like collecting all of the Heart Containers. The music and sounds of the game also stand out — opening a treasure chest and hearing that easily recognizable sound really adds to the experience. The time-travel mechanic is a brilliant way to introduce a rich fantasy world. I could go on about why this game is the pinnacle of the Zelda series, but I think you get the idea.

My initial and strongest opinion is that, even today, I genuinely believe Ocarina of Time stands as the greatest Zelda game ever made. Many others share this sentiment — it’s a topic frequently discussed in blogs and highlighted in countless YouTube videos. This game truly transformed the direction of the series and played a significant role in shaping the Nintendo brand as a whole.

Will We See an Anniversary Edition?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this game — what aspects did you enjoy, what didn’t quite work for you, or do you consider it a flawless masterpiece? Also, do you think there’s a chance we’ll see an anniversary edition released for the Switch 2 in the near future? Personally, I’m hoping for it, and I believe it would be a huge hit and I will buy it as soon as it lands on store shelves. Share your opinions below — I’m excited to see what everyone thinks!
