Elder TALAVAN is both the interviewee and actor in this film; I invited him to play the older Siraya hunter in John Thomson’s photo. This film beings with a Siraya number song by Elder TALAVAN and I also uses those numbers as names of chapter to carry forward the film; then we see Elder starts singing about the past when John Thomson was in Taiwan…

影片一開始從萬長老編唱教授族人的西拉雅數字歌開始，影片亦在他歌聲中拾取數字編成章節層層推進，接著他抱琴撥弦開始說唱湯姆生來台往事……。我邀請多才多藝的他來扮演湯姆生照片中的西拉雅老獵人，在這部片中，萬長老同時是受訪者，也是演員。

Cheng-Hiong TALAVAN is the Siraya tribal Elder, he leads the whole Wan family to fight for establishing Siraya as well as Pingpu tribe’s identity, and also revive fate of their ethnic group. Being talented in music and performing, Elder TALAVAN often makes instruments and arranges Siraya language and stories into songs then passes them to younger generation; he’s a charming leader in tribe who is humorous and sympathetic.

萬正雄長老西拉雅族群復興運動靈魂人物，他帶領整個萬氏家族為推動西拉雅與平埔族群身份認定，以及復興族群命運長期奔走。在音樂與表演上具有極高的天分的萬長老，常自創樂器編作歌曲，將族語以及故事化為歌謠傳唱教授後輩；風趣幽默古道熱腸是族裡極富群眾魅力的領袖人物。
