If Poetry Had a Reason, It’d Be You
For your heart, from mine.

Even if life gave me a second chance to fall for someone,
I’d still choose you.
You must be wondering how a heart can feel so sure.
Maybe I should tell you
When I say I trust you more than I trust myself, I don’t mean I doubt who I am. I mean…
I’ve seen the ocean of love for me in your eyes.
I’ve seen those trembling hands as you tried to believe what it feels like to be touched not just by my hands, but by the quiet miracle of two racing hearts learning the same rhythm.
Your love has become the one thing my heart never questions.
My own space still feels like my own only warmer now, because you’re in it.
I know it hasn’t been long enough with you.
But somehow, it never will be.
Because life with you feels like all I’ve ever longed for.
I still get butterflies when you praise my beauty, when you understand me without effort, when you lower your gaze, because your blush won’t let you meet my eyes. Especially when I tease you with the goofy love only you bring out in me.
I want to learn every form of poetry, not because I’ve run out of words but because you’ve given them endless reasons to bloom.
Because the same I love you, repeated for a lifetime, could never hold all that I feel.
So I’ll keep weaving new verses for you, so each time you read me, you fall in love again with what it feels like to be loved by a writer.
So even if life begins again,
even if destiny rewrites every page
my heart would still spell your name,
the same…
every time.

🎈Author’s Note This poem is the second part of my **If Love Had a Name, It’d Be Yours **series. It was about the certainty of choosing someone in every lifetime.
This one is about the little things love becomes: the comfort, the cheeks blushing, the dreams you madly build together, and the hope that every new verse can express a little more of your heart.
Maybe that’s why I want to keep writing poetry, not because I’ve run out of words, but because love keeps asking them to become more. If you’ve ever wished language could stretch just a little further for the person you love, this one’s for you.
Thank you for reading, my cupcakes!🧁
You call yourself a writer? Then prove it: If you had to express your feelings without using those three words, how would you say it?
I’ll be reading!
If this poem touched something in you, even just a little, don’t forget to leave a little love in claps(50). It means a lot more than you think.
